What does it Really Mean to Remake Yourself?
By Nancy SwisherJuly 20, 2011
Transformation is a life-long practice. Enjoy the journey.
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world as in being able to remake ourselves.” -----Mahatma Gandhi
Recently, a new client said to me, “I’ve been doing this for two months and I still get stuck in negative places.” Before I could respond, she went on to add, “And I still don’t feel total clarity about my life purpose.”
I could feel the expectation in her voice. I could also feel the self-judgment. I responded to her by saying, “I don’t think you realize that you are actually in the process of remaking yourself. And that is a profound choice to make. I encourage you to see it in its largeness and to love the process of it!”
Being on a path of healing, of personal and spiritual transformation is not like going to the store and selecting what kind of lettuce you want, going home and eating it. In other words, it is not some place you get to and then it’s over. Transformation is not out there in the external or horizontal world; it is an internal or vertical place within you. It happens each moment, if you are aware. It is a relationship between your thoughts, feelings and Source energy or Spirit. And by changing the internal-you, your external world automatically changes.
When you embark on the path of transformation, you actually remake yourself. What is it that you are remaking? What is that self? You are learning to move from ego self to your Higher Self, to blend your Spirit with your personality.
Most people are living from choices they make with their conditioned mind. The conditioned mind is your programmed way of thinking and responding to the world. You learned this from people outside yourself, through the eyes of your parents, teachers, even current partners or employers. Your conditioned mind has replaced your own Inner Guidance or Intuitive Knowing.
The task of healing, or becoming whole, is to train yourself to see your world, and that includes YOU, through the eyes of Source Energy or Spirit.
How do you know when you are not seeing yourself through the eyes of Source Energy? You feel not so good!
You must tune in to your emotions in order to know if you are connected to your Source or not. If you avoid your feelings, you cannot know whether you are on track with who you really are or off track.
The first step of Inner Bonding is tuning in to your feelings and taking responsibility for how you are creating them. As you progress through the steps, you are led to the place of seeing yourself and others through the eyes of Source. By studying Inner Bonding, practicing, and getting support in applying the process to your unique life path, you can be on your way to remaking yourself.
There is no more exciting path to take in life than the path of personal transformation. But remember, transformation is a life-long journey. Why is this? Because you are an infinite Being who chose to come here in order to evolve. That process never ends.

Daily Inspiration
Today, make inner peace your highest priority. Gently quiet the wounded part of you that wants to think scary, controlling, agitating thoughts, and instead, think kind loving thoughts that create inner peace. It is a discipline to allow only thoughts that create peace. Today, practice that discipline.
